The End of This Year’s Days

It’s winter and the fire burns down

A dimming day; a log settles in

sparks fly up the chimney

I pull a blanket to my chin

at the end of this year’s days

Thank you for dinner; The dishes can wait

Our house is content; the cats have all been fed.

Just settle in beside me

And lay down your head.

at the end of this year’s days

This one wasn’t easy

We all wanted better days

But we laughed together

And looked at each other

I can say it was good.

at the end of this year’s days.

Dancing together, singing a song

at the end of this year’s days

We laughed together

And looked at each other

I can say it was good.

at the end of this year’s days.

I will finish my book, and write just one more song,

I will tell you that I love you, Like I did all year long

Only one more day this year

Keep things simple keep them clear

At the end of this year’s days

at the end of this year’s days.
