Unwound

In the sunlight beaming down
I found a space in the ground
I’m a green shoot, snowbound
I’m a tendril unwound
To see the sky,
To see the sky

In the moonlight.          in the night
A wolf stood between me and the moon
Cast her shadow on my head
Howled at the moon

I feared her low low moan
She was so near I stayed below
I feared if I stay below
And saw no sun how could I grow
I would surely die
I would surely die

She will shield me in the night
I am safe, ooooooo
She will stand over me
And howl at the moon

Wolf, I call you spring
The earth gives birth
When you stand over me
And howl at the moon
And howl at the moon

In the sunlight beaming down
I found a space in the ground
I’m a green shoot, snowbound
I’m a tendril unwound
To see the sky,
To see the sky
